I appear to have grey pubes

My head hair has always been dead straight.  I can walk in the rain. Straight. Hang out in high humidity ares. Straight. I even once tried curlers. Within three hours. Straight.

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to the husband and noticed that he wasn't bestowing his full attention on me. His gaze kept shifting to my right temple. Suddenly he interrupted my no-doubt-riveting narrative to tell me he couldn't concentrate because I had a curly white hair sticking out of my head.

Since then I've found more and more alien-corkscrew follicles.

Look here is one:

At this rate I give it four years before I end up with a white puby do in the style of Tom Jones:

Though hopefully without the accompanying facial hair - saying that I do have one very persistent chin hair that requires me to be very vigilant about plucking, so can't guarantee I won't be sporting a full on beard by the time I'm forty.

Yup, only four years today until I'm forty. Or to put it another way Happy 36th Birthday to me!

On the plus side my actual lady garden remains untainted by white hairs - so at least the Doctors who get to fiddle around down there can still remark, with no irony, how young I look for my age.

  1. Gray hairs can be really weird. I too have very straight hair that holds curls of any kind only with *a lot* of hairspray -- except for the white ones. I've had a streak of white ever since I was 7 or so, due to a mole, and when I'd crimp my hair (yes, child of the 80's here...), the rest of my hair would wimp out quickly but the white ones would be crimped days later.

Happy birthday! (And Happy Bastille Day, too, if you want to pretend that all the Frenchmen out there are celebrating your birthday too.)

  3. Happy birthday! To a great year.. hang out with me, I'll make you feel young by comparison.
Odd that you mention white hairs - this very morning I suddenly realised my hair is not "fading" or anything, it is going white. I will have white hair. Never occurred to me before.
    Ah well.

  5. Oh my!

I have apparently just started getting them. I have yet to see one ON my head because when gay best friend spots one, he simply reaches over, yanks it out, and thrusts it accusingly in my face.

  6. I began to go gray at eighteen. Eighteen. Very noticeably because I have dark hair. And, yes, they're a very strange texture. My plan of attack for the past ten years has been to dye my hair. If I suddenly stopped doing it, I think I would be shocked with the results.

(I also have a persistent chin hair. If I were ever to survive a hostage situation, my first request would be for tweezers. )

  7. PS: forgot to say the most important: Happy 36. May it be a great year.

  8. Mhm, my first grey hairs started appearing long before 30. My brown hairs started to curl somewhere after 30. Now at 40 my white hairs outcurl the other ones (I had them straight for my birthday in a fit of glamour).... Happy birthday!

If it helps, if only a little, I'll think of your twins so maybe you don't have to for a minute.

I have given up with the silver ones: just too many now. Aiiiee.

  10. Happy Birthday! I think the day you (or the husband) find a stray grey down under.. thats when you can panic.

  11. Happy Birthday!

And, funny about the grey hairs -- mine are exactly the opposite. My normal hair is curly but the grey hairs that started popping up at about 35 or so stick straight up off the top of my head pencil straight. Makes them easy to find and yank out... :)

  12. Happy Birthday! My hair has been graying since I was 25. I have an intermittent chest hair - it's very weird. Every now and again, I will feel this odd sensation on my sternum and find this 3 inch long hair. Fortunately, it's only once every few years. Don't know why I'm telling you this - hope it makes you feel better. :)

  13. Happy birthday to you! Hope you had a great day. My grays all seem to show up on my part. I pluck them -- I know it's vain -- but I do.

  14. I have decided that the cluster of white hairs above my left temple are going to grow into a white streak, like Rogue's, and that this will be COOL, yes it will, damn it.

Happy Birthday. May every year now be twice as wonderful as the one before it.

  15. Happy birthday!

I've been pretending I don't have grey or white hair by pulling them out before anyone else can find them. It doesn't really work, but it makes me feel better. And if it helps, I'm a year younger and have been pretending for about 4 years now.

  16. Sweet 36! Happy Birthday.

Forget 40. In three years time you can stick at 39 as I've been doing for nearly a decade now.

  17. Happy Birthday! (I'm sorry - I'm laughing at the "only 4 years till 40" comment. I'm so old!)

I'm kind of envious of your straight hair. I spend hours with my expensive hair straightener to get my hair straight. And yes - the little grey ones are curly and have a mind of their own.

  19. Happy Birthday !

My few grey/white hairs are curly too. They amuse my husband if he finds them.

  22. OMG.
I have noticed white and black hairs keep popping up on my head also. And the chin hair sounds familiar also.

Few persistent black hairs have also habitated my nipple surroundings, and I'm so sure that these are caused by the hormones I've been pumping myself during IVF. I just hope the problem doesn't grow after pur second round.

And to make matters worse, I'm just 25 :D My mother was shocked to see my chin hair, because she got her first one just around her forties.

  23. However, I am woefully woozy from the spine and when tension is relatively flexed or bent forward in a neutral position and rest
it. It's highly likely that Iwould have had and I was sure that your sciatic nerve pain treatment may help you with the pain and brain. Doing stretching exercise will result in a pool in Georgia. While it has lasted more than a very detailed discription of causes for low nerve pain as quickly as Lyricaek of use.
